Choosing The Right Type Of Training For Your Dog
Selecting which type of training out of the three main ones available (i.e. behavior, obedience, and activity) to use on your dog may appear to be slightly complicated. Then again, if you think about it a little you should see that there really are some pretty obvious paths to be taken that really are quite straightforward.
For starters, every dog needs some form of behavior training. That much should go without saying as there isn’t much chance that you’ll want your dog to be urinating here and there. So house training is definitely a ‘must’ for your pet dog. Other types of behavior training are optional, but they’re definitely recommended too.
Once you have a dog that behaviors itself, you’ll also undoubtedly want your dog to follow your instructions – and that means obedience training enters the picture too. Naturally, it needn’t be anything too advanced, but you’d definitely desire your dog to be able to follow the basic instructions such as sit, stay, and stand.
Based on this, you should see that we’ve determined that at least two types of training are really pretty compulsory.
Activity training isn’t however, and so the options that you’re going to really want to entertain would be whether or not to train your dog for various activities, and/or advanced obedience training.
All things said and done, this should have simplified your decision by quite a bit. Essentially, the ‘core’ of dog training, as you would have noticed, revolves around obedience and behavior training, with all the rest just being optional extras. End of the day though, its up to you how much you want to train your dog.
