Question by BIFFERD: How do you correct poor puppy potty training?
I tried the puppy training pads at an early stage, now my dog will nto go potty otuside at all. We coudl be outside for hours then i let him in and he goes straight to the pad to pee. However i recently tried movign the pad to another location closer tot he door, however he still went to the spot where the pad was. He is trainined that, there is only one spot to go potty pad or not.

Can you take cci puppies in training anywhere?
Question by : Can you take cci puppies in training anywhere?
I am thing about being a puppy raiser for the cci. I would like to know if the dogs in training are aloud to go all of the places normal survive dogs can go. Any additional info on the requirements and apical care they need would be great! Thank you!

Answer by Jennifer M~ Got the Giggles
Not at the puppy raiser level.
The job of a puppy raiser is just to raise the puppy and teach it basic manners.
As far as the requirements, you need to contact CCI yourself regarding their specific requirements for their program.
Do you mean applicable when you wrote ‘apical’? Care would just be like any other puppy.

What is the best way to house train a 9wk old puppy? | Puppy …
Question by ?Dawn?: What is the best way to house train a 9wk old puppy?
If it makes a difference, he is a Lab/German Shephard/Dalmation/Collie. (If I remember correctly) It’s been awhile since I had to train a puppy to go potty outside. Any advice you got for me would be great.
(We also have 2 small dogs, a Pekinese and a Chihuaha. Both around 2yrs old, give or take a couple mnths.)
All these answers are great. Thanks so much. Also, I really like that bell idea. Do you think I could train the other 2 that way?

Crate train. But bear in mind that your pup has a long way to go, and can’t be expected to be remotely house-trained until s/he is 3 months old.

Look for info on the web about crate training your puppy. That’s the method that most people use.

have the pup with you on a leash at all times while you are home and take him outside every 1/2 hour and praise for going potty outside. If you cannot watch the pup, make sure that you are using a crate to confine the dog to avoid them going in places in the house when you’re not looking.
You could use a windchime or bell on the door and everytime you take the pup out, hit the chime with their paw and ask if he has to go potty and praise when the dog goes outside. The pup will catch on that the bell tells you that he has to go out.
good luck.

Any dog can be taught to go outside and in a certain part of the yard. Some will take longer than others, depending on the dog, their age, and any past history.
First and foremost, when you cannot watch the dog, i.e., at night or when you are not home, the dog needs to be confined to a crate or very small area. A dog will not soil their “home”, as they don’t want to be near it, either!
As soon as you get home, or when you get up in the morning, put the dog on leash, and walk them outside to a spot where you want them to go. Always go to the same area. This will become their potty spot, and will make things a lot easier for clean up. As you go outside with them, tell them to “go potty”. They will soon learn what this means, which will help in the long run.
As soon as they go outside where they are supposed to, a lot of praise, petting, and an occasional treat. This will reinforce that you are happy with them. Do this praise immediately, as a dog’s attention span is very short and if you wait, they will be happy you are praising them, but they will not know why you are praising them.
If the dog makes a mistake and goes in the house –
If you are there and see them start to go, tell them “no” in a firm voice, immediately take them outside to their potty spot.
If you do not see them actually in the act, then do nothing. Scolding the dog after the fact will not teach them, as they will not remember what they did and will not know why you are angry.
Do not give the dog food or water within 2 hours of bed time.
Get the dog on a schedule as soon as possible for feeding and potty times. The dog’s internal system will soon learn this schedule and they will be able to wait until their scheduled time.

patience and repetition. take him out every couple hours while he’s so little then gradually less and always before bed, after nap and after meals. eventually he will get that you want him to go outside. he might not always make it, since he can’t hold it for very long. but it just takes lots of trips to the potty spot.

1. put the dog on a leash
2.go out side and stand in one spot (this will be the spot u must ALWAYS go to)dont walk around
3.wait for the dog to go when it finishes, tell her good potty or what ever u chose (has to be the same statement EVERY time)and at the same time give her a treat EVERY time.
you must do this about every 2 hours your dog can only hold it that long,3 months old 3 hours,4 months old 4 hours etc.
you may have to stand out there for awhile sometimes.also crate training is a help.you will also have to let her out several times during the day.at nite usually rite before bed and 1 time in the middle of the nite,if you wear her out- maybe not at all.this is where lots of play time comes in.also play is indoors ONLY potty is outside.if your other dogs are housetrained take them out with the puppy alot of times the puupy gets on the adult dogs schedule.

5 Terrier Puppy Training Tips – Make Terrier Puppy Training Easy
5 Terrier Puppy Training Tips – Make Terrier Puppy Training Easy
Terriers are known for one thing – energy. They have a lot of it and they know how to use it. Terriers can run around all day long and still want to run some more. That energy, especially as puppies, can make Terrier puppy training a bit difficult. However, you can use their energy to help with the training, so try these 5 tips to make your Terrier trained fast.
5 Tips For Training Your Puppy
1. You need to start training the terrier early because that will make the entire process easier for you in the long run. The quicker you train them, the easier it will be.
2. Be dominant with the terrier to ensure they don’t try and make themselves the head of the household. If that happens, you could find your training process is a whole lot more difficult.
3. Always use positive reinforcement with your Terrier. Reward the good behavior and ignore the bad behavior.
Often bad behavior is for attention more than anything.
4. Ensure you are consistent with your terrier puppy – always. If you are not consistent, the Terrier puppy training will not go well and will be much more difficult as a result.
5. Before you train the Terrier to do anything, train them to listen to you absolutely. If they don’t listen, it could cost them their life if they run away. They have to be taught to come when called before learning how to sit.
Terriers have a lot of energy and that can make Terrier puppy training a bit more difficult, but it does not make it impossible.
